PICSI
Selecting mature sperm for injection based on physiological principles.
PICSI Benefits
Focus on Quality
By mimicking natural egg-sperm binding, PICSI provides a more precise selection criteria for injection.
- Biological selection
- High success potential
- Advanced lab tech
What is PICSI?
Physiological Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (PICSI) is an advanced functional test used to select the most mature and viable sperm for fertilization. It mimics the natural selection process that occurs when sperm binds to an egg.
The Science of Selection
In PICSI, sperm are placed in a dish with hyaluronan, a substance naturally found in the egg's outer layer. Only mature, high-quality sperm with better DNA integrity will bind to the hyaluronan. Our embryologists then select these "bound" sperm for injection into the egg.
Who Benefit from PICSI?
PICSI is often recommended for couples who have experienced recurrent miscarriages, failed ICSI cycles, or cases with high sperm DNA fragmentation. It provides a more precise selection criteria than just looking at sperm appearance.
Clinical Advantage
By selecting sperm based on their biological maturity and egg-binding ability, PICSI can lead to higher quality embryos and improved pregnancy outcomes. Dr. Nalini Gupta's facility offers this technology as part of our commitment to utilizing every tool for your success.
