What Is IVF?

The cycle begins with ovarian stimulation using daily hormone injections for approximately 10 to 12 days. Regular ultrasound and blood tests monitor follicle development and adjust dosing as needed. Once the eggs are mature, they are retrieved under sedation in a brief procedure. The eggs are then fertilised in the lab using the partner's or donor's sperm. After three to five days of embryo culture, the most viable embryo is transferred into the uterus using a fine catheter. A pregnancy test is conducted 10 to 14 days later.
